Sunday June 16, 2019: March by one million (?) HK people - most of them young people - against the HK government's proposed extradition law. Many photos in this HKFP report
My photos ... I was in the crowd .... like everyone else, on my feet for 7 hours... notice how most of the marchers were young people (... I hope someone will nominate "The HK Young People of 2019" for the Nobel Peace Prize)
Waiting for train at Admiralty Station:
Walking from Causeway Bay Station to Victoria Park:
In queue waiting to attend Catholic prayer service:
Bishop Joseph Ha speaking at prayer service in Music Stand of Victoria Park:
Leaving prayer service to join main group of marchers in Victoria Park:
Can you see the Cross behind which Catholics took their position in Victoria Park?
Waiting patiently in the heat ... nearly one hour before we left Victoria Park
Not part of Catholic group - prepared for battle with police (which did not happen)! (gas mask, 2 umbrellas, helmet, shield!)
Even non-Liverpool supporters would agree: when you are with one million (?) people you do not walk alone!
Indonesian domestic helpers (... the park is their home on Sundays...) encouraging the marchers:
Following that Cross!
The crowd was too big for Hennessy Road, so many tens of thousands used parallel side streets, sometimes going through shopping centres to change streets:
Gloucester Road:
Jaffre Street (?):
The sign says "Hong Kong is crying":
Switching between streets:
Free cold water from kind staff of Marzia Restaurant, Wanchai
My group of special friends: Simon, A-Lung, Mag, Tony, Candice, Joseph and Elaine
Back on Gloucester Road:
Eventually we reached Admiralty:
I was sad to hear young people ridiculing and insulting police ... but ...when you fire rubber bullets at young people you lose respect
Finally at Central Station for trip back home to Jordan:
